Dragonfly on Pack- BWCA

"Back Paddle!" I yelled as we paddled past this poor fellow upside down on Knife Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. We turned our Minnesota II around and I scooped him up and placed him on the pack in front of to dry his wings in the sun. Later, he happily flew away! Anything that eats mosquitoes is a friend of mine.

Porcupine- Porcupine Mountains

I saw this guy coming toward Dan's cabin during my Artist-in-Residence stay in the Porcupine Mountains. I grabbed my camera and knelt down on the ground. Their eyesight isn't great and he walked within 10 feet of me before becoming confused about the sound of the camera shutter. Then he stood up to get a better view.

Came across these ravens near the Presque Isle River in Upper Michigan. One was sick and couldn't fly. But two others that weren't sick would not leave the side of their buddy.
